Hey folks,
We are at the LA Pet Fair with a booth this weekend and for any of you that will be in attendance we encourage you to stop by and say hi and talk fish for a few minutes. This is our first time attending this expo, so we are very excited to possibly see some new faces out on the west coast!
Due to Dave being at that show today, this email is going to be a bit more concise than usual since we're all scrambling to get everything done with a man down. That doesn't mean we don't have some cool stuff to show you though!
This week, we got in the largest fire eel I've ever seen us offer. It was ordered as 50-55CM, but we have it on the list as "18 inch even though it's a little bigger than that. it's also literally as thick as my arm. Super, super cool.
We also got for the first time ever the extremely popular and relatively new "Bloody Mary" borneo sucker/hillstream loaches. these should be super popular, I've been seeing people ask about these in forums and facebook posts around the country for months now, so you should definitely try them out. The vender also had what they called "yellow edged" borneo suckers as well for about the same price as our borneo suckers usually go for, so we brought in a few bags of those as well. They're not quite as striking as the Bloody Mary's, but still really neat to have something different from the norm.
We're also having a bit of a snail-a-palooza around here this week. Check down at the very bottom of the email for pics of the varieties in stock right now. I'd highly recommend keeping all species and types of snails more than fully stocked in your store during the summer. These are by far the easiest thing to add on to your sales as an impulse-buy. People can always use clean up crew for their tanks, even if they don't plan on adding any actual fish at the time.
There's also plenty of nice bread and butter that's running big I'm going to highlight below, as well as a few of the fish that are just super good deals that I don't want everyone to forget about. Check the photos below for more details. |

| The wait is almost over! The Electric Green Angels official launch date is July 26th! |
| Starfire Red Gourami |
| Borneo "Bloody Mary" hillstream loaches are in for the first time at Nautilus! These have been a huge craze lately, everyone's been looking for these things. This is a relatively new species in the hobby, so don't sleep on them. |
| Another new Borneo Sucker, the "yellow edged" species have really cool yellow tiger stripes down the body. These are I think actually even cheaper than the "normal" borneo suckers when we get those in, so you might as well grab these guys if you're curious! |
| The Blue Tiger parrot cichlids we've been producing are getting pretty big, so we created a new number to sell off some adults in case anybody wants larger ones. The males (pictured) are obviously much larger than females, but the females have more color, so both sexes are really great. It's not often you can pick up parrots this size. |
| New "Emerald Green Endler" we didn't feel like making a new item name for, so they're being sold as "green tiger endler" on the list. They're much much brighter green though and a super nice nano fish. |
| It's been a while since we had the Green Bushynose in stock so we restocked on the medium size this week. The breeder calls them Green Dragon, but we drop the Dragon part of the name on our list, because we're not entirely convinced they're actually legit Green Dragons. They do look different and cool though, and are worth it for the size. |
| Chinese High Fin Loaches are back! I think this is the first time we've had them this year so far. These are a great pond fish, since they get huge and are very cold-tolerant. |
| New size of puffers are in, Large Figure 8's! They look excellent. |
| Uaru are back! These ever popular little gems are one of the coolest looking South American cichlids when they mature, and act more like Discus than most other cichlids (plus they share the discus body shape). |
| New type of platy, the "Blue Calico Wag" look awesome. Greenish blue base coloration with black speckles all over. |
| Shoe Head cats came back in wild from Colombia again, and it's hard to find a more interesting looking catfish than these. The dorsal fin it like a little dagger spine on a saltwater Triggerfish that they use to wedge themselves into rocks or stumps in the wild. They're good size, and are definitely something that will catch people's eye and spark conversation in your shop. |
| Chili oscars always sell out, so we got some more to last another couple weeks |
| Redtail cats are back and came in a little oversized for a change! These are about 3 inches. |
| Red Jake Peacocks are super duper juiced up right now in a fresh batch. They all look as good as this one or better, super bright red with blue faces. |
| Still no "normal" Dojo's, but we got Golds restocked again. |
| Gold Dust Molly from a new supplier. These are very different looking from the gold dust molly we usually carry. I really like both types. |
| Large Rainbow cichlids somehow didn't sell out this past week. How did these not sell out? LOOK AT THIS FISH |
| Large Firemouths ran out but we got more! These are one of the best values on the farm right now. And this strain looks really good with tons of super bright orange color. |
| 4 Inch Cuban cichlids are fantastic as always. One of my favorite Central American cichlids thats a little less common. |
| We also ran out of and restocked the large Blue Aureus cichlids. This is a relative of the firemouth, but much less common. The color is more reflective blue/green on these, very cool looking fish. |
| Neon Gold Rosy Barbs got a restock and are huge |
| I'll stop putting Red Glass Barbs in here when they stop coming in awesome. Color and size speak for themselves. |
| Colombian tetras in the new batch are absolutely huge. They have more color in person, but the camera doesnt catch it well because it's all based on the reflection angle of the light. Nice cheaper filler fish. |
| Buenos Aires however are huge. Possibly some of the biggest I've ever seen. Color, what there is, is also pretty nice. Best part about these is the fact that they're inexpensive and practically indestructible. One of THE best beginner fish. |
| Penguin Tetras are coming in absolutely huge again |
| Red Eye tetras are also coming in gigantic right now |
| Dovii are available at both 4 and 5 inch this week. For those looking for super aggressive tank-busting cichlids, this is your best bet. |
| Zebra Nerites! Should have good stock on these for the week. They're good size for a nerite and do a great job cleaning like all nerites. |
| Mixed Racer Nerites are back and look excellent. Tons of red in the mix, not much yellow this time. Red is what 90% of people want, so this works out in your favor. Plus they're stupidly cheap for some reason. |
| And lastly for Nerites, Red Spotted are back as well! These are a type of Red Racer and should be super popular. |
| White Wizard Snails are back! These are sort of like a mystery snail, but have a much smoother shell and an attractive ivory coloration that doesn't fade. |
| The most boring for me, but probably the most exciting for you, Gold Mystery snails are humongous right now. Not sure how long this will last, so stock up. Mystery of all colors have been extremely limited for months. |
